NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features text commentary for Sunday's games via multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard through select stations covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , after last week's talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests was the amount of infractions each conceded. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the fourth period against Denver, set to play overseas this weekend.

However it proved good to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit before lead three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.

The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos prevailed in that battle.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always sending extra pass rushers instead they could plug two linebackers in the interior then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program how Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up big and recent running back JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

I love how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows that Denver represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, because one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable situations.

It's also benefited QB the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw all over, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, which is different, and he is highly agile.

His assets are his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as finding varied release points to make throws as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws across the middle and past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great poise under pressure and is not bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade being tackled whenever possible and can pass in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you constantly rush it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to defend the area downfield side to side. This proves exhausting.

Nix has bitten back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think the coach appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a rookie QB who's kind of like moldable clay. He can really build something up the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success Denver are having offensively is largely down to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps shape him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to help you during difficult moments and boost confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.

Currently, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a good place to be in their division. All they need is to continue this path.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win any game.

Ever since the NFL started recording takeaways in 1933, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the West.

This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet since Denver {beat|def
