That Grisly Cartoon Movie Conclusion That Haunts Audiences

Out of all the adult-oriented cartoon movies I’ve ever viewed, no other has remained with me quite like the fear-filled conclusion of the viscerally violent and highly provocative 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, the Spanish writer-director crafted a grim, somber and often savage world with some tiny , desolate hints of hope.

While The Unicorn Wars feels like it originated from a desire to push animation further, the director explained that it was rather a try to communicate a universal, multicultural theme concerning “the mutual source of all wars.”

That idea is communicated by means of a squad of vividly colored bears , clearly modeled after a well-known series of cuddly characters.

Maturing in a society focused on warmongering and the defense industry, a lot of these creatures are fixated on exterminating unicorns, because of a sacred text that claims the bears they were once kings of the woodland, before these creatures forced them out.

Some haven’t fully accepted the brainwashing, and would rather try out drugs and engage sexually in the forest.

Unlike their gentle equivalents, these vivid animals have visible genitals and definite sex drives.

For a certain particularly cruel, pessimistic creature, the bear named Bluey, the battle against unicorns transforms into a path toward dominance — and especially to authority above his gentler, more compassionate sibling the bear Tubby.

Bluey is a bully , an obvious antisocial figure , and as terror takes over his squad and takes his comrades sequentially, he seizes increasingly power on his own behalf, in increasingly bloody, destructive ways.

Simultaneously, these mythical beings are suffering their own terror, as an expanding, destructive monster in their habitat.

“Initially, it appears as a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker said. “However it evolves into a more intense and melancholic movie. And by the end, it transforms into a scary feature.”

The Unicorn Wars begins resembling among the whimsical features by a renowned filmmaker, which find a wicked pleasure in allowing animated figures swear, engage in violence, or sex each other up.

Afterward it becomes something more like a bleaker film from the same artist, featuring progressively visual gore , a noticeable link to genuine tragedy of battle.

In the finale, it is an outright theatrical horror bloodbath.

The fear that turns this a Halloween-friendly movie kicks in well before than that description suggests.

The Unicorn Wars is suited for the devoted gorehounds, for enthusiasts of intense movies who desire to watch something they’ve never seen on-screen before, and who can handle a narrative that offers absolutely no punches.

Watch it in a dimly lit space without any distractions, and that ending will crawl into your mind and stay with you.
