Star Rejects Anti-Vaxxer Views After Voicing Disputed Coronavirus Film
The acclaimed actor has lent his voice to a new documentary that questions the safety of vaccinations and lauds former government figure Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Feature's Disputed Basis
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a well-known publication written by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for assertions that the virus was a result of a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
Her collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has previously authored books with conspiracy-prone figure the Infowars host. He took to social media celebrating Neeson's participation in the documentary.
A Firm Denial
Representatives for the actor have released a statement firmly refuting implications that he supports anti-immunization beliefs.
"We all understand that unethical practices can exist within the drug industry, but that cannot be confused with rejection of vaccines," the response reads. "Neeson never has been, and is not, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with the global charity reinforces his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
It added that the performer did not shape the film's narrative and that questions about its claims ought to go to the filmmakers.
Key Claims In the Documentary
According to the documentary, the script read by Neeson features several strong claims:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have called for "unconditional submission" to health authorities.
- It posits that "science has become dangerously politicized."
- Kennedy is shown saying, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- The narration takes aim at Covid lockdowns, claiming they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it references a view that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Context and Ongoing Issues
It includes a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was later the topic of a correction by the network for violations of guidelines.
Last month, RFK Jr directed the national health agency to revise its longstanding position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is repeated in the documentary, contrary to a recent study from the World Health Organisation stating no connection has been found.
An Earlier Position of Advocacy
Differing from the film's narrative, Neeson has in the past shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
Previously, he described vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's voice saying, "This is not the finish of our narrative. Rather, it is the beginning of a new chapter."
