Approximately 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, producing powerful gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Damage
Locals reported giant hailstones measuring up to 7 centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts verified that multiple regions across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, around 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also faced energy failures after Melbourne experienced its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28k power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both states.
Safety Concern
Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the state.
