Mohamed Salah Extends Statement to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the group of players following the uproar from his televised remarks.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and suggesting his relationship with manager had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
Arne Slot has chosen not to disclose on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
Jones also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “I get that there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have remained strong in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not designed to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, getting results and starting to win games.”
