Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
